Mission
The purpose of Life Sciences & Society (LSS) is to promote education, research, and community engagement on issues that arise from the ethical and social ramifications of the life sciences. Our goal is to ensure that advances in the life sciences are applied responsibly to benefit the public's health and well being.
Life Sciences is not a degree-granting program. Rather, LSS strives to build bridges between and among disciplines by facilitating and promoting projects, events, and programs that make connections between the logics and languages of science and the humanities. The faculty, staff, and students who work with LSS have the opportunity to be instrumental in changing how life sciences research is translated into technology and then into practice.
Life Sciences & Society is organized into three major theme areas, creating a focused approach to some of the most significant questions in the life sciences. For more information visit the clink on the links above.
